18/04/11 - Key Stage 3 & Key Stage 4 Easter Cookery 
Both Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils have been very busy over the last few weeks preparing Easter Treats in the Home Economics room. Pupils made Easter Cakes, Easter Nests, Mars Bar Squares and Chocolate Cup Cakes. 
18/04/11 - UKMT Maths Challenge 
Pictured are pupils from Year 11 with their teacher Miss V Hadden who took part in the UKMT Intermediate Mathematical Challenge 2011 in February. Everyone performed very well and a special mention goes to Ashleigh Henry who was placed best in school. 
15/04/11 - Shared Educational Project 
Pupils from Newtownhamilton High School and St Paul’s High School celebrated their cultural diversity at an event sponsored by Queen’s University on Friday 15 April 2011 in St Paul’s High School. Pupils from both schools enjoyed the variety of cultural performances which included the following: Singing, Scottish dancing, Irish dancing, pipes and drums, guitar, tin whistle and boran, accordion and drums, flutes and drums, violins, piano and cornet. Our thanks goes to all those who performed at this event and our special thanks goes to teachers from both schools, parents and all those who helped to prepare pupils for their performances. A DVD of the event will be available after Easter. 
14/04/11 - Year 12 Technology & Design Coursework 
The Year 12 Technology & Design pupils have now completed their design and make task as part of their GCSE course.  
A lot of hard work during lessons and a few late evenings ensured that everything was completed on time and to a high standard. Special mention must go to Teacher Mr D Sloan for his guidance and patience during construction. Additional photographs can be viewed on the T&D subject page. 
08/04/11 - Goodbye Mr Proctor 
Staff and pupils recently said goodbye to Music Teacher Mr Gareth Proctor following the end of his contract at Newtownhamilton High School. 
Mr Proctor had been covering the maternity leave of Mrs F Ramirez since September 2010 and everyone at the school wishes him well in his future career.  
08/04/11 - Launch Of Joint Rugby Team 
As part of the Sharing Education Programme (SEP), St Paul’s High School, Bessbrook and Newtownhamilton High School have begun a collaborative programme to create a joint rugby team. This is a first for the South Armagh area and involves students in Key Stage Three from both partner schools working together to develop their interpersonal and team building skills. 
Over the course of the academic year, thirty students have been participating in a training programme facilitated by Mr Jonathan Black, Newtownhamilton High School, and Mr Martin Rafferty, St Paul’s High School. 
On Wednesday 6th April the team enjoyed an intensive training session hosted by the Acton Adventure Centre at Poyntzpass, before returning to St Paul’s to compete in a mini-tournament. 
The tournament allowed the two schools an opportunity to launch their new strip, which was designed by students from both schools, and bearing the logo of their proud sponsors CR Sports, Newry Physio & Sports Injuries Clinic and Mc Cartan, Mc Lornan and Associates Dental Surgery Bessbrook. 
The new team are looking forward to competing against other local rubgy teams in the near future. 
Principal of St Paul’s High School, Mr Oliver Mooney, said that he was “delighted to see the new joint rugby team compete in their first tournament.” Mr Mooney added, “This initiative is an integral element of our PEACE project, and advances the aims and objectives of our programme. We now can see the project coming alive as our students continue to make real and lasting friendships.” 
Mr Garnet Mullan, Principal of Newtownhamilton High School, paid tribute to the contribution of the students who have given up their time to become involved in the rugby team and to the staff of Newtownhamilton High School, and St Paul’s High School, who have shown dedication and commitment to the spirit of the SEP programme. 
06/04/11 - Newry & Mourne Quiz Night 
Well done to Head Girl Tanya Donaldson and Head Boy Robert McMullan on their success in the recent Newry and Mourne Table Quiz held in the Canal Court Hotel Newry on 5th April, 2011. For the record their teams came 1st and 3rd and they received vouchers for £60.00 and £30.00 respectively to be spent in any shop in Buttercrane Shopping Centre Newry. Well Done again and Happy Shopping! 
01/04/11 - Rachel is 'Learner of the Year' 
The success story that is Newtownhamilton High School’s collaboration with SRC (Southern Regional Campus) in Newry continues with yet another pupil achieving highly. This year it was the turn of Rachel Herron to be honoured as "Learner of the Year” in the “Occupational Studies: Painting & Decorating” course. This is indeed a magnificent achievement. 
Rachel received her award from Mrs Helen McClenaghan on 30.3.11 and later posed with Mrs Margureite McConville (SRC), Principal Garnet Mullan and proud parent Mr Ronald Herron and brother Philip Herron. Well done Rachel! 
01/04/11 - Job Vacancy - Clerical Officer 
Newtownhamilton High School is currently in the process of advertising for a clerical officer with word processing duties. This post will be based in the main school office and it is anticipated that the successful applicant will start the position in September 2011. 01/04/11 - Year 8 STEM Magic Show 
The Year 8 pupils travelled to St.Paul's High School Bessbrook on Wednesday 30 March to view a Science Magic Show that was delivered by Sentinus. The aim of this show was to bring Science to life in a fun manner while pupils were also given information on the benefits of following a Science career.
