24/09/10 - European Day of Languages

French teacher Mrs A Laverty organised a European style breakfast for pupils on Friday 24 September in order to celebrate The European Day of Languages. Pupils got the opportunity to sample croissants, crepes and other tasty treats as they enjoyed the background music and singing provided by Mr D Sloan and some of the senior girls. An enjoyable time was had by all and £220.00 was raised for local charity HAND that is organising the 'Run for Autism' in the Newtownhamilton area on Saturday 2 October 2010.

Many thanks to Mrs A Laverty, Mrs R McKeever, Mr D Sloan, Mrs S Coyle, Mrs B McNiece and the girls from Years 9 & 12 that helped to make this event such a success.

24/09/10 - Year 8 Parents' Evening (25/10/10)

Year 8 parents should note that the parents' evening scheduled for Wednesday 27 October 2010 has been moved forward to Monday 25 October 2010 (3.30-5.30pm). All Year 8 parents are encouraged to attend this event.

20/09/10 - Website Competition Winners

All Newtownhamilton High School pupils were given the opportunity to enter a competition recently which required them to answer 6 short questions from information on the new school website. All correct entries were put into the hat and drawn out after school assembly last Friday morning (17/09/10). Congratulations to the following winners:

08/09/10 - New PE Kit for Boys on Show

Our Year 8-10 boys have been modelling the new PE kit this week. The navy and red kit is compulsory for Key Stage 3 pupils and it is hoped that some of our Key Stage 4 pupils will also purchase this stylish attire. This kit is only available from Mrs G Donaldson at Newtownhamilton Post Office (02830 878979). Please note that no football tops should be worn during PE Lessons.

07/09/10 - Year 8 Visit to Ulster American Folk Park, Omagh

Year 8 pupils enjoyed a visit to The Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh on 07/09/10. The purpose of this trip was to help the pupils to get know each other better in a more relaxed environment outside of the classroom. 24/08/10 - Impressive GCSE Results at Newtownhamilton High School

Staff and pupils of Newtownhamilton High School were delighted by the 2009 publication of statistics by the Department of Education, which showed that the school was the highest performing controlled non-selective school in Northern Ireland, with 88% of Year 12 pupils gaining 5 or more GCSE grades at A*-C.

Further success has been achieved by pupils in 2010 with the arrival of the latest GCSE results in August, with many pupils achieving very highly. Of particular note are Matthew Coyle and Rachel Johnston, both of whose results are composed of entirely A* and A grades. Top pupil Matthew has attained 7A* and 2A grades.
