Vocational Enhancement Programme (VEP) at Newtownhamilton High School 
Since 2005/6, a Vocational Enhancement Programme (VEP) in partnership with the Southern Regional College (Newry) has been developed and extended. This exciting initiative gives our Key Stage 4 pupils the opportunity to study a wide range of Occupational Studies and B.Tech courses every Thursday, whilst gaining external accreditation through CCEA.

A level 2 in CCEA Occupational Studies is counted by the Construction Industry Training Board as being equivalent to 2 GCSE grades at A*-C. 
 
B.Tec Courses 
From September 2010, pupils from Newtownhamilton High have the opportunity to study B.Tech First Certificates at SRC. This exciting new programme offers pupils the chance to study for qualifications in:

Office Management 
 
B.Tech First Certificates are equivalent to two GCSE passes at A*-C grades. Pupils who choose to study for a B.Tech qualification would also study for a single unit in Occupational Studies thus giving them the opportunity of achieving a further GCSE grade.
