25/05/16 – A Royal Occasion
Principal Mr Neil Megaw and pupils Glen McBride and William McBride spent yesterday afternoon in the company of HRH Prince Charles at Sloan’s House in Loughgall.
The recently opened Sloan’s House is the home of the Museum of Orange Heritage and Newtownhamilton High School received an official invitation to meet the future king due to our participation in GOLI’s (Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland) Education Programme. Pupils and staff were also in attendance from Markethill High School, Tandragee Junior High School and our collaborative partners St. Paul’s High School Bessbrook.
Glen and William are current members of Newtownhamilton Junior LOL 236 and therefore they thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to look around the museum and also to meet GOLI Grandmaster Edward Stevenson.

We recognise that the school plays an important role in educating our children and young people in the importance of a balanced diet, healthy lifestyle and in providing healthy and nutritious food choices and giving consistent health messages. We now have a Food in Schools policy to assist in the co-ordination of healthy eating in School. The summary document is now available for pupils and parents with access the full document arranged via contact with Mrs C Alexander (Home Economics Department).

10/05/16 - Year 10 Visit Stormont
Today Year 10 pupils had the opportunity to travel to the Parliament building in Stormont. They were given a tour of the various meeting rooms and were given an insight into how MLAs were elected into government.
They even got the opportunity to meet local UUP Councillor David Taylor who welcomed the pupils to the building and answered some of their questions. The pupils had a great trip and are certainly more in tune with the inner workings of the government.
