16/12/16 – PSNI Workshop

Local PSNI Officers Des O’Sullivan and Stevie Simpson recently attended Newtownhamilton High to deliver a presentation to our senior boys on the current ‘One Punch Can Kill’ campaign. They delivered a clear message on the importance of walking away from violent or aggressive situation as a moment of madness can ruin more than one life.

The officers also spoke to the boys about other issues such as farm safety and the dangers of getting into a car with a drink driver. Some of the boys even got to take the breathalyser test – which they all passed!

Many thanks to Officers O’Sullivan and Simpson for their support.

On Tuesday 13/12/16, Year 8 travelled to Belfast to participate in a 'Destination Space' workshop as well as 'See/Do' many of the interactive activities in W5. A great time (and climb) was had by all!

Destination Space is a national programme to inspire curiosity and engage young minds with the wonders of human spaceflight and to explain the importance of the science, technology, engineering and mathematical skills that make spaceflight possible.

Destination Space provides the opportunity to learn about Tim Peake's mission and the people behind it through hands-on experiments, rocket demonstrations, space equipment and much more!
