Two goals from Harry Copeland and further strikes from Matthew Johnston and Zach Donaldson created history as Newtownhamilton High lifted the Northern Ireland Schools’ Football Association Under 15 Small Schools Cup for the first time at the Danny Blanchflower Stadium in Belfast yesterday.

Many congratulations to Coach Mr Black and his winning squad of Mark McLean, Lucas McMurdie, Alastair Watt, William King, Harry Hamilton, David Robinson, Zach Donaldson, Matthew Johnston, Jamie McGurgan, Harry Copeland, Adam Graham, Matthew Bell, Jack Abbott, Jake Robinson, Glen Watt and Luke Watson.

Reflecting on this success, Principal Neil Megaw stated “To win a NI cup is a monumental achievement for our school. We were the smallest school in the competition from the outset, with a limited pool of players to choose from, but what we did have was a group of boys who had a determination to represent our school with great pride. Some excellent organisation and coaching from our PE teacher Mr Black also ensured that history was created”. Mr Megaw concluded by stating “A wonderful day for everyone associated with Newtownhamilton High”.
