Wonderful Writing Workshops!

The English Department were delighted to host two writing workshops during this term. 

 

Staff from Into Film delivered a Story Builder Games workshop. Pupils were shown how to develop their own ideas into a story and concept for a game. Many pupils came up with genius game ideas! Pupils now have the opportunity to continue to develop their ideas and enter their original game concepts into BAFTA’s Young Game Designer Competition. 

 

Fighting Words NI is a creative writing charity for children and young people. One of the project’s they have been co-ordinating with Fighting Words is Story Seeds. The project is aimed at fostering a love of creative writing in children, young people and adults, celebrating the places and communities that they are from. This cross-border project is working with some schools in Northern Ireland and their stories will be shared with schools and community groups in Counties Louth, Monaghan and Donegal. At the end of the project, the stories from all participating schools will be printed in an anthology and each school will receive a copy of the anthology. 

 

Pupils really enjoyed participating in this project and created some fantastic gothic stories. We look forward to seeing their work in print!
