Religious Education
Religious Education at Newtownhamilton High School
Pupils participate in formal RE lessons where the RE Department’s aim is to help young people to achieve a knowledge, understanding and evaluation of religious experiences, beliefs, practices and concepts so that they are able to continue in, or come to their own beliefs and respect the right to other people to hold beliefs different from their own.
Religious Education in Newtownhamilton High School promotes an understanding of Christianity and its relevance to life today, from a Bible based foundation.
Pupils in Years 8-10 have 2 periods of Religious Education per week while Year 11 & 12 pupils have the option of following either the CCEA GCSE full or short course in Religious Education.
