Student Council
Student Council Overview
In 2014 Newtownhamilton High School embarked on an exciting journey to develop and nurture a Student Council as a means for students to have their voice heard in the practical running of the school. Over the past 6 years a group of elected students have represented the views and opinions of all our students to forge an inclusive, safe, fun and positive learning environment.
The Student Council body is compiled from four representatives in each year group. Year 12 students have the opportunity to be voted in as Chairperson and Treasurer, while Year 11 students can apply for the post of Vice-Chairperson and Secretary.
Meeting are held approximately once per month. Since 2014 the Student Council has been involved in a variety of activities including charity fund raising and school facilities improvement as well as engaging with the local school community.
