12/02/14 - The Newtownhamilton Entrepreneurs

Our Year 9 pupils recently travelled to Rushmere Shopping Centre in Craigavon to compete in the Annual Young Enterprise Quick Start competition.

Pupils had set up their own companies, designed and resourced certain products and used their entrepreneurial skills to sell these products to consumers. The pupils were competing against various schools from the area and clearly enjoyed the experience.

The Bargain Dealers (pictured 2nd from right below) came runners-up in their category - well done.
11/02/14 - Health and Safety on the Farm

Year 11 and 12 LLW pupils would like to thank Mr Robert Harpur from Divernagh Dairies for coming into school to give a presentation on Health and Safety on the farm. Robert highlighted the duty of care they have for their employees and how it is essential to ensure they provide a safe working environment. He began the presentation highlighting the need for a risk assessment which was carried out by the NFU. He followed on with looking at the four main dangers on the farm:- Slurry, Animals, Falls and Equipment [SAFE]. Our pupils have certainly enough information to complete their LLW Controlled Assessment Task.

06/02/14 - Ceramics Club

A number of pupils in Year 10 enjoyed staying for after school Ceramics Club during term 1. Christmas decorations, farming framed pieces and decorative glazed pots were completed to a high standard by all the participants. A creative and fun time was had by all and Miss Johnston would like to thank all those who stayed to give it a go.
