Pictured is well-known Newtownhamilton resident Willie Hughes cutting the ribbon to mark the official opening of Fred’s Shed, in memory of the late Mr Fred Dick.

Principal Neil Megaw explains “Just before his passing in 2020 Fred Dick gave me a donation which he had collected at a community function and requested that I spent it on something useful. Unfortunately, COVID-19 soon arrived and all school plans were put on hold. More recently, our PE staff identified the need for a storage facility beside our 2G pitch and so we used the money to purchase Fred’s Shed”.

Mr Megaw continued “As a former pupil and school bus driver, Fred took a great interest in the school. I am therefore delighted that Fred’s good friend Willie cut the ribbon to ensure that he will be remembered by our school community for many years to come”.
